    Opinions Needed Please

I am in the process of rebuilding a 250sx. I have the top end apart. I am installing a newly rebuilt head I bought from a cycle shop on eBay. My question is would you guys go ahead with a new piston and bore since the engine is already out and taken apart? The cylinder and piston seem perfect. The bike has never been bored. Part of me wants to go ahead with it, but part of me says its a waste. Not sure if I should go ahead and have it bored with new piston, or stick with stock and order plastics. Bike is low hours. It has been sitting for 10 years in a garage since it broke a valve. What would you do? I think I am gonna go with piston and bore, just wanted to get other opinions.

If the piston and cylinder look great, measure them. If they are in spec. I would just hone the cylinder and put on some new rings.

I would probably go with the bore and piston. You might as well make it run like new while you've got it out.

Edit: After thinking about it, if the cylinder is near perfect like you say, I wouldn't even worry about the bore. Just a stock piston and rings would probably do it.

If you really want to spruce it up, try finding a 300 kit for it, I heard they thumped pretty good. I miss my 85 sx
