    Question ATC 70 question

I recently saw an ATC 70 on e-bay. On the right side of the motor there was what looked like a shaft sticking out. This shaft was to the left bottom of the oil filler hole. The owner did say that this shaft turns while the motor runs. Other ATC 70s appear not to have this?

Anyone have any idea what this shaft is for and why it is there? Even on the ATC110s the right side only has a brake lever.

    Just curious.

It's more than likely an engine out of a bike installed in the atc70. If it was an trx70 engine, then the shaft would be for the rear brake pedal, but more than likely it is a ct70 engine or z50 engine transplanted in there. You're best bet would be to ask the owner to tell you the serial number off the engine and that would tell the story. Honda usually put the model in the serial number.

    Question ATC 70 picture link

That is what I was thinking, but a brake shaft would not protrude from the motor, nor would it turn while the motor is running like the owner says it does?

The only thing I can think of is that it is a kick starter shaft, with the kick starter removed. It was most likely transplanted out of a motorcycle of some sort. I'll post the link here so you can see it.

Not sure what the link rules are, but we just want to look at the "mystery shaft" on the right side of the motor. Check it out by pasting the link below. It should be the main picture

Yea it most likly out of a CT 70, the shaft should not move when it running, but the ATC70 did not have that shaft, the 87 TRX70 had a shaft like that for a brake pedal mount as Vealmonkey said, but that motor is not from a TRX due to the left sidecover does not have the correct cover over the flywheel for the electronics that a TRX would have. TRX and ATC 70 electronis are different.
