    85/86 250sx looking to buy..

Guy wants to sell a 85 or 86 250sx. Says it runs but needs work. It is shaft driven. Are these engines mechinally sound? Are there any common failures?

    Thanks.

Wicked bulletproof.... There is a one way clutch that wears out and the kicker will slip and a pin on the left side cover that loosens or snaps and your shifter will act up - you'll know it.

More important is to check the rear diff fluid, it should be clean and not milky or watery. The 85 has a BIG problem with water entry into that diff. 86/87 is much better sealed and has abetter swinger/brake setup also....

Otherwise, they are super fun and easy to ride.

Only the ones with the pin problem that I talked about.

The pin is on the left outer case, cheap and easy fix.
