burns up pennies? That sounds bad - but look at this I just pulled from Wiki

Commercially available aqueous blends of 5-30% nitric acid and 15-40% phosphoric acid are commonly used for cleaning food and dairy equipment primarily to remove precipitated calcium and magnesium compounds (either deposited from the process stream or resulting from the use of hard water during production and cleaning).

maybe it will work, i'll just have to dilute it with some water... the stuff we have is pretty powerful. it doesn't burn up the whole penny, just takes the top layer off, i don't know what they are made of now, but it takes the top layer off.

Just use CLR. Pure it in, roll the tank on its side 1/4 turn every 20 minutes and it's clean rinse it and use an air compressor and blow it out.

We have an old school portable sand blaster, turn the air on and she is goin . Anyway it has a flexable hose on the end, instead of a hard metal mouth, so its easy to stick it in and hit all areas. Then just use the air compressor to blow it all out. think outside the Box

I try to find any way possible to clean the tank, sandblasting, etching or whatever - and NOT seal it. The longer you can keep from sealing it the better.

I agree with you jes, I am not a big fan of kreem either.

i ahve used the por15 with good results and kreem is nto that good of a product caus eleaves toomuch margin for error. i just take the filte rout of the petcock to let the dirt and stuff pas strough and put an inline filter in it and run ti and just change filters. or if its a dry tank i put a bunch of nuts and washers in it and shake vigorisly then vaccum the dust out. and the best thign to do is keep it from rustign inthe firt place keep the tank full top it of fbefor eyou park it for a soemwhat long period of time. mor ethan a week. and just add a smallamount fo 2 stroke oil to it also helps sometimes. ther eis alot of things that can be done.
