Honda 200X , Just added a cobra pipe and need some jetting tips

    hey
I just bought a cobra exhaust system for my 1985 200X and it is completely stock. It has the stock air filter aswell as the air box lid. I was wondering how much you usually need to go up in jetting.

if your still running stock filter, it wont be to much, I dont know what your current main is but id start with 2 or 3 (5-7.5) bigger, but thats just a guess. you also might try going one notch lower on the main, and then dialing in your air screw.
    THESE ARE JUST GUESSES.
Ultimately, you will have to figure this out for your self by doing some plug chops. Check out dammit's carb jetting sticky thread if you have other questions

does it make much of a difference if you remove the lid and get like a uni or a k&N filter

Do you like the exhaust? I am planning on getting an aluminum one for my 87 200x. Is it too loud like many on here claim?

Id go one step richer on the main and see how it runs.... If that helps.

all bikes are decidedly different. some people have to only go a 112...i had to go to a 125. that was with no airbox lid and a uni. as for the exhaust...the alluminum is loud. like if someone is 600 yards away inside a house, they will hear you above half throttle...easy. lol. atually sounds good though.

I have a cobra exhaust and I LOVE the sound. not raspy, more of a deep throaty sound. I wouldn't switch it....

The Cobra is way too loud, pisses off everyone and everywhere we go riding. Unfortunately there aren't many alternatives.

Supertrapp exhausts sound so nice and the engines power range is adjustable through the amount of discs you run.

I put a Cobra aluminum series on my bud's 85 200X. Drilled out the main jet until the hesitation stopped and raised the needle jet one clip. We aren't running the airbox lid either and it is much much quicker.....

The jetting is near spot on.
