Can anyone post a pic of which bit cracks on a Z when it is kicked hard and
cracks a case.
I need to see which bit actually breaks.
I've searched the boards but can't find a photo.![]()
Cheers.

It's not an optical illusion, it just looks like it.
Ditto, heard it happends alot but never actually seen where and how. Good point MATE![]()
I got one thats cracked thats going to get fixed..I will get a picture tomorrow
I never took a picture of mine when it cracked. So I will use Chris's pic to show what happened.
In the red is round about where mine cracked. It didnt hurt the kick cover, just the clutch cover itself. It split about half way down.
After that I have taken Moshes advice to heart. Park on hills, and to go a little further then that, I have my bike pull started if it doesent start on the 2nd kick. I aint riskin that sht again!!!!!

ATCERIC..........Rumored that SOMEONE maybe remedying this with some new covers????????
There is a technique to start them.
YOU CANT kick the living crap out of them.Never kick them from the top of the stroke.
If they dont start with mild kicking, you have carb or ignition problems.
Here is where my long useless list of stuff nobody cares about should go...

Thanks for the pics and info guys. It looks as nasty as it sounded!
I'll have to be x careful I guess.
If I haven't started it up for a while and it dosen't start first couple of kicks I usually give it a squirt of ether to help it along.

Thanks chris... I have never had the kicker cover crack.. the clutch cover cracked like the red line one .. and that was because all the bolts were loose.. the one I need fixed has a crack across the back side..behind the gear
Man, what a design flaw.... I'm glad you guys found solutions, but what the hell? Pop start it? Pull it? thats crazy talk!! There are what, 5 - 6mm bolts holding that k-start housing? And it still isn't enough? There is obviously WAY too much pressure on that outer cover and not nearly enough on the inner case.
Trust me guys, I think the TRI-Z has a nasty/SEXY!! look to it that we all love, nothing like the TECATE that I'm not a fan of (SORRY FELLAS). To me, everyone tried to copy the 250R but due to patents, it was difficult... BUT, they did make a LOOKER!! but it certainly doesn't seem to be functional...
EDIT It's just WRONG, you guys should be able to kick the helll out of anything. Imagine owning one in 1988 and having this crap happen??????
All our government does is distract us while they steal from us, misspend our tax $ and ruin our country
