    Thinking of selling the Jeep....

    Specs:
    1988 Jeep Cherokee
    4wd
    4.0L I6
    Open exhaust
    5" rear lift, 4.25" front
    C.A.I
    Brush Guard- (6) 5" Baja lights (2) 8" spotlights
    33" MT's
    Polished aluminum Eagle rims
    $600 stereo
    Aftermarket Steering wheel

The Jeep looks good, sounds good, and everything works. It's not insured since it failed aircare but only needs a new Cat. converter to pass and I have the papers to prove it.
It has no rust, and the interior is in nice shape.
My dad offered me his '79 GMC- 6.5" lift on 35's... 350 with Aluminum high rise, 600CFM Edlebrock, Hooker Headers, mild cam, etc. It's a powerfull truck and sounds amazing. It'll need a new box and cab, but he's offered to help with that so it's not a problem.

He offered it to me for a $1000 but I'll need to sell my Jeep to get it.
I'm thinking I could only get about $1800 for the Jeep since it needs to be insured, but I'll still come out of it on top.

What do you think it's worth. (The Jeep)
Just as a little info... Stock '87-90 Cherokees go for about $2-2500 here. I know mods don't usually ad value but things like my rims and tires, stereo should add some value.

Well the blue book value in my area for that jeep seems to be around $18-1900 in FAIR condition with 100,000 miles.

I would say you are making a good move! You can move that Jeep, and have some money to work with after....................

Slap a cheap exhuast on that so it can become street legal. I think that will help you sell it a little better.

If you want to enter some specific info to find the blue book in your area, hit this site up. http://www.kbb.com/

    Go after that GMC!!!!

    Good luck!

    Thanks!
I was going to check there but they don't do Canadian pricing.

I think I'm going to go for it. I'll put it up on Craigslist tomorrow or Thursday. I doubt I'll get much interest right away with it being so close to Christmas, but we'll see. I'll ask $2000 for it, and hope for 17-1800. The tires and wheels are worth over half that alone.

Heres a bad pic of the truck. I don't have any others right now.

i'd keep the jeep personally, than inline 6 is bulletproof. but, around her, without the cat you could get 3000 for it depending upon the mileage.

you couldn't just slip the guy doing your inspection a little cash. works wonders around here for tuner cars.

Well it looks like I won't be getting the truck. When we made the deal, I knew he said it was going to be "our" truck, since I was only paying a thousand for it, but I figured that meant that he would drive it once in a while and I would have control over what was done to it and make changes if I wanted to. Well, basically I'd be getting to drive it, but I wouldn't have much conrtol over what was done to it, as in, if he painted something on it that I didn't really like or added something that I didn't care for, it would'nt matter because it would still be his word over mine.
I didn't really like that idea because there are sometimes where we have different tastes in things... not very often, but it has happened, so I think I'm going to pass on it.

Yeah, the 4.0 is an awesome engine, it had over 400,000+KMS before it needed a re-build.
I can't slip the guy money, because it's not an inspection that needs to be done.
I'm not sure if you guys have it in the U.S, but we have what's called Aircare. They basically run on your engine on a dyno type machine, that reads your vehicles emissions. Since my Cat. is clogged or just worn out, it won't pass emmisions, and I can't insure it.

around here jeeps are gold. everyone wants one. my brother's jeep died big time. fuel system died, brakes were dead, 4wd crapped out, and he got 800.00 plus a good looking fresh rebuilt polaris trail blazer. i know ha ha ha trail blazer but around here they go for 800.00-1500.00 depending on the time of year. plus its not a stock quad either.

in ny we have some emissions laws. but only for 96 and newer. our truck is a 79 and runs a cherry bomb that is on a 3 foot pipe that is on the header crossover. they told us as long as our exhaust is past the cab we are good to go. ok anyway id sell it if you dont wanna mess with putting in a cat.
down to parts because i no longer have a place to ride trikes.

One thing that's nice about our Aircare is that we don't have to run it for a truck. Just bump the GVW's to 5001 and it doesn't have to run the emmisions testing.

And the converter is no problem. About $180 and 30 minutes of my time and I'll have it done, just haven't got around to it yet. I want to do the exhaust all at once anyway, since I want to run a 2.5" pipe from the cat to the rear. Thinking of maybe running a fake dual setup and split it right after the rear axle too, not sure on that though.
