    Restoration guide

Has anyone ever written a newbie guide to restoring some of these fine machines. I have some basic knowledge, but I imagine that a lot of you will know all the tricks for getting various parts to look the dogs. I am happy with my 550 but am thinking of tidying up the 185s.
There is'nt really much wrong with it, but, for instance I would like to tidy up the engine casings & fins, just to have them look a bit fresher. Also my handlebars are looking a bit rough nowadays.
I know you can send a lot of parts away and get them done but I'm not looking for a show finish, the 185s is just my daily runner, but would like to keep it looking good..

Take it apart, clean it, paint it with Walmart paint, cover the seat, buy new plastic, put on stickers, buy some new skins and call it a full restore. Thats what most guys do anyhow..........

The only guide I can think of is the service manual which gives the specs when it's time to throw parts away and tells you how to take it apart and get it back together.
