    tri-z steering stem bearing???

I bought the tapered bearing kit from dad's and i'm trying to install the upper race in the steering stem. I removed the old ball bearings and the piece they sat on. There is still another lip in there and if i set the race down in there it will stick out of the neck some. It looks like i need to get rid of that lip and then it will set down in there all the way. Has anyone ran into this problem? I wish i had a camera i would take a pic of it. thanks

You can actually run it like that with no problem. The only other thing you can do is have someone extend the upper part of the steering neck to cover the bearing race completely.

They all stick up... your dust cover will cover it,, and there will be no problem running it like that..
