By the way. i like your little snappy names you made up. meatball, chippy, again wtf? how old are you? i wouldnt doubt you do shoot popsicles out your ASSES for fun.

"ACTUAL REBUILD MIND YOU OF AN ACTUAL 1985 ATC200X - 8/2007"

why would it not be actual? is it imaginary?

There not popsicles, they're the push up rockets colored red/white and blue

You didn't seem to believe the quotes I thre out there, so I posted the rundown of prices and labor.

The prices I quoted were from a rebuild that I performed on the same exact model, just a few months ago. Not someone pretending to know what I was talking about (no, that is not in reference to you; although it could be, I'm not sure because I don't know you). 60$ - 75$ is the average charge for boring and honing a cylinder. That type of labor would be called "machine shop services" not the assembling and disassembling of the engine. Last I knew, not many of us had a "boring machine" in our tool box

Truth of the matter is we didn't even discuss the possibility of crank bearings, a connecting rod, clutch, oil pump or kickstarter gears. I don't know what her motor is gonna need and neither do you. It could be as cheap as 300$ or as much as 1000$ and there is no use sugar coating it. I personally wouldn't want to be 2500$ deep into a 200X, but that might be just fine for other people; to each there own........

There are plenty of posts here of guys trying this, trying that, fixing this, fixing that and lots of times the work doesn't last and or has to be repeated.

Build it once, build it right and be done with it.

Best thing to do is Sell the ATC 200X , Buy a '85-'86 ATC 250R , 2 Stroke

And if you need to re-build it , it's cost is way cheaper

On the Plus Side you'll have a Way Better Start to a Race Machine .... Easy to up-grade on Parts ...

Put it this way , if you were starving... would you take a Grape-(200X) or a Mango-(250R) ? ? ?

    THAT is good advice

It certainly has ALLOT better chance of keeping up with your friends 450 and 500 even with the 250R in stock form.

A 350X is another ATC that has plenty of power and good suspension.

that is true. rckstrgirl even if you was to fully mod out the X its not possible to keep up with the 450's and stuff. id say if the 85X was created with a 6th gear there may be a chance. when i did my X up i was able to get 63 mph and that was mainly messing with the gearing, and smaller tires.
1986 atc 250R. needing alot of parts. winter projet!

Selling is not an optoin right now. I have gone through this before about a month go, and I realized that I just want to restore this one (not showroom, but decent) upgrade it, keep it, and later I am going to buy a Yamaha Raptor (Yes a 4-wheeler).

i'll tell you what's sad... a 10.25:1 wiseco is 84 dollars AT COST! that's bs. especially when just a replacement piston is only 40...at cost.

personally i would say do not get a lifan... they are actually built pretty well. and they are brand new, but my 22 year old X engine with just a fresh piston and rings was faster. then again, i think the internal gearing may be a little closer, so it may simply be the gearing.

i'd rebuild the stock X engine if getting another bike isn't an option. but take it from someone who has gone the path you are, it's gonna be a money pit. DEFINITELY. a fun money pit, but still.
