    TECATE CARBY SWAP? and KX500?

Can anyone suggest a good common type of carby to go onto the 86/87 model Tecates? The standard one has no fuel mixture screw for adjusting the idle.

I've also got a question for those guys who have done the KX500 engine swap on their tecates, whats the engine vibration like compared to the 250?

Is that a common carby or will I have to get it imported from the US?

P.S. Any takers on the KX500 question

Either of the keihin or mikuni 38mm's would be a nice uprade. You can also get a mikuni 40mm that came standard on the 1986 kx250 for an easy swap.

The KX500 in the tecate is easily done, there is def. more vibration than the 250 but it isn't too bad. With some aluminum handlebars, bar snake, and foam grips it makes things a little more pleasant. I would stay the tecate frame does need some beefing up to handle the motor though.

I have a 39mm round slide (old school) Mikuni on my 86 Tecate and a 38mm Keihin PWK Airstryker on my 86 KX250 and both work real good. If you want more midrange than look for a 36mm Keihin PWK.

As for the KX500 vibes, stewart on everything2stroke.com says with his crankshaft balanced and his piston mod the 500 can be quite smooth. Look here- http://forums.everything2stroke.com/...-500-a-11.html

Where does the Tecate frame need to be beefed up?
