If your goal is to get it looking as close to "original" as possible, I can tell you from experience that, unless you're willing to spend a grand or more, I'd sell it and try to find an '86 (or whatever you want) that is in decent condition. In the end, it will cost you way less this way than searching for difficult to find '86 X parts, as the one you have is going to take quite a few parts to get back to original status.

Is that a 250R swingarm on there? Also, that headlight really looks like an '81-82 250R headlight to me.

You could always get this. http://3wheelerworldforums.com/showthread.php?t=78233 You'd have to get to IN though.

Looks like the shock's mounted upside down. How could someone do that to a 2nd gen. 200X? That's crazy, I've heard of guys trying to turn their 1st gens into 2nd, but not vice versa!

    good deal for $250

    what's wrong:
    no air box
    no fender mounts
    looks like 250r swinger
    looks like 300ex shock
    looks like 83-85 front end
83-85 tank and probably seat and rear fenders

Swinger is an 86 200x (looks just like my 87)- wrong shock - really wrong.

Doesnt look too bad to me otherwise.

But you can put the 85-86 R fender on the front end and still get the look without changing the WHOLE front end...

Get a shock... I would if the plastic and tank lines well leave it or modify something... you can get some maier superscoops those look real good in comparison to the 200x stubby scoops... (in my humble opinion)

    need a silencer...

Personally $1000 making it exactly an 86 your still money ahead at 250 already invested...

But I think you could make a really nice rider for yourself for half that... you just will be doing alot of the work...

Open that motor up and then see what you want to do. Your gonna be out some decent bucks getting the right parts and fixing the few problems. Just finding a good tank and shock can be a chore. Hopefully that rear axle is tight and all the bearings and brakes are good too.

The thing is, if this is what he did to the outside of it, whats really going on in that motor? Aside from the head, you could be looking at rocker arms and shafts, a cam and whatever else is screwed up in there. Hopefully you have a whole top end for it.

That motor in stock form should have some decent sack.

Cool man! That's probably the best idea. Restorations really end up costing a ton of money and time. Make sure to post some pics of the 350!
