Sorry, Dyers Woad is a very noxious weed that takes over everything out here in the West. It will take over pastures and mountain sides in a matter of years. Its kinda like getting super-sized dandilions in your lawn, except they don't go away.OK Rusty........ you're going to have to fill us city slickers in on something... Dyers Woad?????
Roots can be up to 5 feet in length and plants can officially be up to 4 feet tall, although I have seen some that push that limit.
The only practical way has been to pull-up every dyers woad weed by hand, roots and all. If you leave the roots they will grow back. The last couple of years they have developed a new spray that is only supposed to kill dyers woad, without harming your pasture. It seems to work good, but they should be sprayed a couple times a year.
Edit-They weigh a lot too.
