I installed a compression release on my KTM 540 TECATE 3wheeler to take the strain off me and the bike ,looks like it will work well . I am waiting for the right tap to finish it up.![]()

I've heard conflicting reports about putting the decompress in the head.
"Yes its broken, but does that really surprise you?."
"What happened? What does it look like happened?!?!"
Here are more![]()
This last photo is the setup to face the head and put the o ring groove in.![]()
The compression release works wonderfully as a engine brake . The back brake in effect is about doubled . But the engine will not start with the compression release on, warm or cold . KTM came with a PAS power system in the jug ,it was sealed when the jug was sleeved . I'll open it up and see if that helps![]()
Opened up the PAS port in the jug , put the x dimension at max (.050) or 2.2 mm and timed the motor . It still is not easy but I can kick start it cold now with out rolling down the hill or using the compression release.![]()
