    Help with the big question

    Right im just starting to restore my 1983 200x but im undecided on if i should put it to 83 colours


    or 85 colours


    Your opinions please

    I like the 85 colors myself, but you could even go with 86 colors. Dont know if they make white for those years though.

    Seeing as it's not hard to make an '83 look like an '83, I'd stick with the original look. If you have the original '83 black forks, I just don't think they look good with the blue boots. It looks really cool with the black forks, black fork boots and black seat. But that's just me....

    My two cents..... OEM all the way. I like the 83's with the red, white and black. As the previous poster said..... the black boots, black lower legs, etc....... all looks sharp together.

    i like to see the 85 look but to do it right you need to polish the bottom of the forks since 85's has a natural aluminum look...not black
    80s......185 atc, Yamaha tri-moto 200, 85 200x with tons of work
    90s......89 Suzuki quad racer 250 (raced 250 A class for 6 years, late 90s.. custom framed 250x with long travel shocks and a built 350x motor.... built Honda 110
    00s...... chomeoly framed 350 RX with all the goodies (thanks to my bro)

    I really am not a big fan of either of those combos, but if I had to choose it would be the '85. I prefer the polished forks and blue seat.
    Are you a fan of white? I did my '83 X in a blue/white combo and think it looks great, those colors really go well together.

    how would someone go ahead and polish the forks? what tools and supplies does it take to make them look shiny? i have seen people on here do it, i just dont know how its done.

    Go to NAPA and get a green,brown,white scotch brite pads.

    Start with green then brown them white.Then polish with mothers aluminum polish.
