The start of the 86 330R (pics) With more to come

Things have begun to come together on this build. The frame was blasted last week and we painted it on Saturday. All new oem plastics and correct decals will be used on this build. A chrome +6 arm with a NEW oem 86 shock will be used on the back end. New 76mm pro-x cylinder, and billet head will be used on modified cases, as well as a 3mill crank to help square up the bore to stroke ratio a bit. Mark Baldwin currently has the trans, and assembling modified billet gearsets with revised 88-89 trx 5th and 6th ratios. Moshes' are handling the seat end of the project and can't wait to see it. A full billet clutch with oem fibers and steels, and 89 upgrade kit will be used. A dura blue X-33 gun drilled +2 +4 hollow axle will fit to a LSR billet carrier. This is a friend of mine's bike that is being taken from a clapped out rag that he bought 2 mos ago, to an exceptional level. It will be using a 39 pwk, relatively tame port timing, and in frame exhaust. We are trying to retain a lot of reliability in this bike, yet still have it snappy to haul him around. He's a big guy at 6-3 and 240. The owner is the guy standing next to the bike in the background. Oh, and the Camaro is our friends as well. This ones goin to the next level. He rolls BIG!

This will be a great one to watch.Looks like you guys are going all out.
Let me ask though, and excuse my ignorance, but is the 89 TRX gears a tighter ratio? For like drag racing?
What exactly is the benifit of using them vs.the earlier years?

That sucker should fly when done, and have the "looks good" appeal as well.
    Keep up the good work!
Here is where my long useless list of stuff nobody cares about should go...

Well, it's been a while since we've had any new activity since it's kind of a waiting game for parts to come in. Progress has been made though, with the swingarm finished up, and parts back from the anodizer. There is still so much to to to this bike, but sometimes it's best to be slowed down a bit so different and sometimes better ideas come about. Just thought we'd share a few pics of the current state of the bike. The best part is still to come of course. The engine! Oh yeah, should be very nice looking and of course powerful. But as i mentioned earlier, this is not a drag only bike by any stretch. Yes it will run well, but it is going to be in a somewhat tame state of tune. Again, we want to build alot of reliability into this bike for now, but with lots left on the table for future growth.

Looking awesome Ed . Could you do me favour though and spend the next day building a really nice bike stand to work off of . Killer Shop and I'm sure all the tools you could dream of and your using the wheel for a stand . Just Kidding , I'm tired of working on Shannon's Banshee in the basement and would almost kill for a shop like that.
