    Question 1983 Honda ATC185s jetting

Hi I recently joined this foum and I am wondering something about my 3 wheeler. I have a 1983 Honda ATC185s. Its in very good condition especially for it's age (25 years old) : ) . I just purchased a Jardine Stalker Exhaust system for it. In the over view on the exhaust it says that Rejetting is recommended. If I do need to rejet does anyone know what kit I should buy or how big the Jet should be? Also if anyone does do you know where to get the rejet kit becuase I looked everywhere on the Internet and couls only find carb rebuild kits. Thanks Alot! Hope to hear from someone soon : )

I have a manual for an 84 200s, which is the same motor, only a larger bore. The carb size is the same 22mm Keihin for both, and the stock Jet size for a 200s is a #100 main. I can only assume that a 185 has the same jet size (or maybe one smaller?)

EDIT: Based on this post, its a #98 for the 185s (one smaller)

All you need is a main jet set from Keihin, and you can get packs of 5 on ebay for around $30 shipped. Here is a HEX type with a #100-110 range.

And another, a round head type, sold each (get a #100, #102 and #105)

Just make sure the jet in the picture looks like the jet you have pulled out of your carb. I think the 185s is the second type, but the first one is the correct type for a 350x.

You shouldn't need to change the needle, or pilot jet.

    Also, welcome to the forum!

You should pull yours out, and take a look at both of the links, and see which kind yours is. Since your stock setting is a #98, go with a #100, #102 and #105, that should be all you need for your modifications. The links I sent are the right sizes, but I am not sure on the type. Someone else will have to confirm that (or check it against your own).

    Awesome!

Thanks ALot , yeah I still have to pull the jet out and see exactly which one it is, I'm gonna as soon as the exhaust comes or I get some time : (. Sorry for asking again but your saying just get a 100 102 or a 105 and just put ONE of those sizes in and it will work good, but by the 3 different sizes just in case one works better? I'm also gonna adjust my pilot screw while I'm doing all this and see if she can run even better! Well thanks for the help hope to hear form you soon.

The pilot jet effects 0-1/4 throttle, and usually isn't effected by an exhaust / air filter change.

Turn the pilot all the way in, and then out 2¼ turns, and it should be fine from there.

    As for the main jet:

I would get a 100, 102 and 105 and try each one. Try the 100, and see how it runs at WOT. If its cutting out, or running lean, pop in the 102. There are a few pages that describe the jetting process, and you shouldn't have to go any higher than 105 (probably won't even go over 102).

We dont guess at jetting, we look at the spark plug colors. Exhaust systems either make a small or no change in fuel. Put the new exhaust on, put a new spark plug in, ride a bit and check the plug color.
