I found this on a ice fishing site..
Fished sutton point on Sat and sunday. No flags on sat. Too many 3-wheelers ripping around. Beautiful day, though. Sun saw one 7.5 lb northern pulled thru the ice by my neighbor at around noon.

Sun saw one 7.5 lb northern pulled thru the ice by my neighbor at around noon.I HEARD they got like 12 inches of good ice on the lake we are planning on riding. Its supposed to be like 36 degress tomorrow and then get even warmer on monday. I'm not dumb enough to just take off onto some lake and HOPE they really do have 12 inches. i'll bring an ice auger or ask someone else out there.

The one corner was down to about 4 inches and that's plenty. You have to remember that it isn't just the thickness of the ice holding up the weight, its the fact that the ice is supported by the water that its floating on top of. If there is 12 inches of ice you can take a pickup truck out there and not even sweat it.
