HELP NEEDED !!! Big Red Engine and Chain REMOVAL

    I have a big red.
it was smoking real bad, so i ordered a Top end Rebuild from ebay.
    (gaskets, cylinder, pistons, ect..)

i am trying to remove my engine from the frame.
i have all the mounting bolts, wires, and everything off and its loose and ready to come out.

I have repair mainuals, that explain how to disconnect the chain to remove the motor. all the manuals tell me to remove the SPROCKET COVER which is right behind the Pull start casing.
on my 185s, the sprocket cover looks just like the pictures in the book, and easy to remove.

But... on my Big Red 200 .. it does not have the same sprocket cover.
it has the Housing box, where the High and Low gear switch is.

what is the best way to remove the chain so i can pull my motor out?

Pop the masterlink off. Put in neutral. Pull the chain out. You'll have to fish it back over the sprocket to put it back together, but it'll be easier than taking it all apart.

If you want to get at the sprocket you have to remove the hi/lo assembly, Pull start, then the stator plate. Its not that bad, just time consuming. Its in the 200e manual.
