they were never outlawed or banned, if so we'd all be in jail for having/riding them. There was like a 20 or 25 year ban put on PRODUCTION OF 3-wheeled atv's. You can still buy and sell them, ride them, collect them, etc.... The ban was actually lifted recently so legally honda, yamaha, or any other person/company could start making them new and selling them. They will never be made again though because america is a sue-happy (sp?) country. People let there little kids ride on adult sized 3-wheelers and the kids wrecked and got injured/killed. People got drunk, rode 3-wheelers and got killed/injured. THOSE along with the C.P.S.C are the idiots who decided to sue honda, yamaha, etc.. which led to the 3-wheelers demise.

^ that pretty much sums it up. Take a peek in the mad scientists forum, theres a few very nice conversions. Theres a 250r thats insanely nice with a 450r engine being build right now, If you thought that future trike was nice take a look at the 450RR project

The cpsc is in the works to pass a new law keeping any new 3 wheelers from being produced in the u.s. by anyone.
