    Swingarm bearing removal PLEASE HELP

    *edited my first post*

Ok i have the 350x all apart, and the swingarm itself has the slightly smaller diameter (outside) still on it. Is this part or the end caps i need to take off? Its about 3/8 wide and on the inside i have a metal ring thats holding the bearing in place. Do i need to get that piece with the smaller O.D. off the swingarm, or do i simply press (beat) the bearings out, and those rings inside will come out too?

I dont want to damage my swimarm anymore than i have already trying to figure this out. I looked in the manual and it still doesn't make sense to me. A pic may be nice if theres a trick to it that i'm missing. Thanks TC...

If those thin caps are seized, that whole thing is locked up. Start pounding with a good punch...

they are alot of fun to do. I did this on a 87 200x, 2-3 250r's and 88/89 250r swingarm, all are very similar. Try to wedge a screwdriver or sharp flat chisel between the cups and the swingarm, work that gap around and it will eventaully come off. The bearings are even more fun!!!!! I used a one size smaller socket than the bearings are and hit that through busting the bearings. Then use a socket that just fits and hit out the remains of the bearings.

Well the good news is one side the bearings move back and forth, or in and out if you prefer. Guess i'll just whip out the vice grips and see if i cant destroy the caps...

The caps should come off with some prying. Try heating them up a bit with a propane torch. Find someone with a press and push out the bearings. The push rod on my press is the same size as the bearings and slides right into the bearing race.

Will this tool remove the bearings in my 86 200x swingarm???

I got the end caps off but not having any luck using a punch to get the bearings out.

I am thinking that this tool should work to pull the bearing out.

    What do you think?

I think it may work, but first i'd try a craftsman (you can exchange it after you destroy it) socket that barely fits through the bearing on one side and then you can out the opposite one. Use an extension to make sure you have enough to hold onto without busting your hand or the swingarm. I did that like listed above with a piece of round stock that fit just right so i'm sure a socket would do the same. The bearings must be pushed out the side they are installed on, you can't make both come out one side.
