I'm ready to finish up the '82 R with the CR 480.
I need to know, from the guys that have had porting done on their motors, who do you guys recommend doing some mild port work.
Most of the guys I used to know aren't doing old 2 stoke stuff anymore.

just for a mild port job just clean up the rough edges and smooth out the ports and polish them thats what i have done to mine and they run alot smoother.

I would ride it before doing any port work... The 480's have a very smooth power delivery and would likely become very dangerous if you ruined that... I would be lookin for a flywheel weight more than anything... they stall kinda easy when not on the the throttle...
