Do you know if the newport trails are open for ATVs? I know the RR trails are but the trails from center of Claremont open in the winter? - I might go up there soon to check it out.

Last fall, I went there (newport) a few times by myself. I pretty much stayed near the RR tracks and along the river trails. Had my own lil party and hung out under the covered bridges. I made it to the home depot and didnt know where to go to catch those trails to the ski slopes. Felt a little wierd riding on the sidewalks in claremont, but i know its legal to do there. Plus i dont like going too far by myself - ill prob never get found if something bad happened.

I def. want to go with ya, but not on those rock infested trails you took us on last summer... Those sucked. I hear the atv club trails are pretty nice up there.

Lets do some PIT riding........ Whos got access to some kickass sand pits? If not, i got to head to PA...

no matter way you go there will always be rock sections. nothing as hairy as that last hill climb that was all washed out with jagged rocks. i have three awesome pits to ride in but absolutly useless with all this snow. there all in snow country. there all high trespass areas with tickets if you get caught. been riding them for 10 years or so only got cought one time...LOL my opinion its worth the ticket. one pit is so big you will need some paddels or never see the top. did you get my message on the X? that 60+ mile loop has a couple of long rock sections but they are round smooth rocks. i just go through fast and theres no issues. 3 wheelers will need to slow down threw them though. let me know when you can ride and we can make a plan.

Hey, whats so bad about dying in a pool of leftover beer? I'd be proud to succumb to such a death

I got the fenders in Thursday and the stickers will be here next week so I'll be good to go. Thanks DEEPA for the offer but I'm good with fenders till the next ride, just don't get rid of them

The bad news is I read your wish for a great sandpit. The SAME day we took our ride my buddie went to our local riding pit and it was a really nice pit. He was there about an hour and a helicopter flew by real low, about 30 minutes later 5 cruisers, the land owner and the EP's showed up and that was the end of that!

I do however have a few tricks up my sleeve for you guys, there is a good hour long run we can take to Plymouth with lots of stops on the way. I know you'll enjoy it and I have the track here at the house too If we want to go further, we need to be registered but for the loop I take, I've never had any trouble. Those big quads wouldn't fit too well though, there are a few tight areas. But if I can get you and and a couple other buds we'll be good to go. You guys are welcome to stay here on a Sat eve if you want to split up the travel time.

We'll talk more about it when it gets a bit warmer and drier out.......

Well thats MASS for ya. Thats your tax money hard at work..

Im glad we didnt go riding in your area that day. That would have been a mess. My nightmare.....

No copters in NH that i have ever seen. Police/EP cruise on 4 wheelers and sleds up here. There are so many legal places to ride - they shouldnt care up here. I have even been pulled over by the cops on the roads 3 times up here and they just tell me to go home.

    "R" Therapy

Took the R out for a 3 hour tour today. Got some pics of some of my local riding spots. These trails are in hillsborough, NH, about 20 minutes from my house. Still alot of snow up here.

Snow is rock solid and much easier to rip on than what was in pawtuckaway that day. Glide right ove the deep stuff now. Soon it will be a mudfest.....

I got the latest atv club letter yesterday. Looks like there is a major push to stop using the winter access RR trails for ATVs. I dont think this means Derry and newport since those are year round RR trails designated for ATVs?

Give it a few years - the rail trails will be paved for walking like they did in western MASS.

here is an excerpt from the letter i got from NHATV.. thought you NH guys might be interested.

Rail trails: ATV watch submitted a bill to band ATV’s to ride our rail trails.
Snowmobiles are illegal to ride on rail trails for winter use. Bureau of trails bought
these rail trails back in the 1970’s to be used for non motorized wheeled vehicles
except snow traveling vehicles. As far as i can remember snomobiles are
motorized except they have skis instead of wheels.
As of now all ATVs can’t use most of the snow trails. This all happened due to
ONE person who has a website ATV watch who is against ATVs and dirt bikes.
Our State Representative listened to him instead of the 30,000 registered ATVers
    in the state.
If you want this to be changed please call your congressman to have this
changed. They are the only ones that can make it happen. Most of us know ATVs
bring in millions of dollars to the state and is a billion dollar industry that outsells
    snomobiles 4 to 1.
    Congressman information is on line.

Larry Anderson is running for Selectman of Allenstown. Sandra McKenzie, who is
anti ATV, who was not running has decided to run for re-election. The results as of
3/11/08 neither Larry Anderson or Sandra McKenzie have made the seat. We will
all have to wait and see what the new Board of Selectman brings.
There is also a bill in the making to have it mandatory for kids under 18 years old
to wear helmets. No results as of yet.
    Ride safe!!

the website is www.atvwatch.com to see what they are lobbying for.
