    chain length question?????

now that i have the carrier issue pretty well solved, i have another problem that i need some experienced help with.
    83 250r-stock sprocket is 13 and 42. with a 90 link 520 chain.

as syko suggested, i wanted to get the gearing a little taller so i went to a 14 tooth front spr. got it on and 90 links was too short, just the tinyest little bit. it just didn't wanna go on. i had already bought a new chain so i put on a 92 link, since you have to go in even numbers. it was too long. the adjuster wouldn't tighten up enough.

what do i do? i thought of going down a tooth or 2 in the back but wasnt sure if it would solve the problem or if it would make the gearing too tall.

if anyone has a sprocket combination that works, let me know. i wanna go a little taller but not too much...??? any ideas.

They make half-links to do this sort of thing.

Yep use the 90 link chain and a half-link.

I've been running a half link forever now with 0 problems. You can fit o-rings in there also so dirt dose not get in. You can get them at about any good hardware store, just get the 520 3/8 pitch link and it will work fine.
