Having a problem with the kick starter on my '84 atc 250r
Sometimes it catches fine, other times it seems like it doesn't catch whatever gear
it's supposed to catch to turn the engine over. (Its gettin' rough on the ol' ankle!)
Can this be fixed?

sounds like the same problems as the 200X as where the spring that engages the ratchet gear is worn so it will not put the pressure needed! not sure but its a possibilty ill let the 250R guys chime in for further varification!! but do a search on 200X kick start problems!!

I had this on a kx250 dirtbike once, I just sanded the sprockets of the kickstarter a little bit with quite rough sandpaper, that did the job for me.

I've never had a bottom end apart on one of these.
How complicatded is it?
Also, my bottom end oil level plug (on the left side cover) has stripped threads, so i'm gonna have to pull that sometime anyway...
