    How Unsafe Are They?

    Hi I am a new gal here. I just got my 3 wheeler refurbished, from lawn ornament to useful ATC. It's fun to ride. My friends say they'll come visit me when I end up in the hospital, because they are unsafe and that's why the companies quit making them. I am not experienced with these machines, so what are some things I need to know to keep me out of the hospital? I do not do any kind of wild riding. My 3 wheeler is a Honda 200s.

    Also, I want to order some fenders, the back ones. Where would I look?

    there only unsafe if your stupid on it, ride within your limits and you will be fine, hell i ride like a mad man and have only had one good crash on a trike, but more them a few on my old 250r lol


    look on ebay for fenders. or b-dawg plastics

    Avoid off camber hills!!! If you ride hills, go straight up, and straight down. Or as close as you possibly can. These machines do require special techinques that come with time. And use body english when turning. More or less depending on speed when turning. On a rigid rear trike, it's a good idea to keep speeds reasonable anyhow. The back end has a knack of bouncing on and over certain terrain when you're not ready. I had a 185, and still have a 110. And they are great trikes for sure. Just know their limitations, and slow the pace, and you'll be just fine.

    Welcome to 3ww forums, one thing about trikes is they tip a little easier than quads so always be sure to lean in the direction your turning and don't put your foot down or you may run over your foot as far as fenders for the 200s somebody here will be able to help you out.

    learn to ride...simple as that. they aren't anymore dangerous than anything else. A quad is inherently more stable, but weighs more, which means wrecks usually end worse.

    Word of advice...lean into your turns...and learn to ride your bike. You do that, and you'll be fine.

    Hi welcome to the site. Definitely dont take your feet off the pegs. Ive seen more people run their leg over than tip them over. As for safety i dont see how they are any worse than anything else. Use your head, not in the bash the ground way of using your head. Ive wrecked more bikes then i ever will trikes.

    Ride safe. Where a helmet always. I have been riding trikes since I was 6 and have never had a serious accident. Most importantly, know the trails you ride on. Don't go on some strange trail and open it up all the way, like I made the mistake of doing once. Could have been serious but it wasen't. I learned my lesson. Good luck.

    use cconfidence and keep it within your and the machines limits. and what ever you do dont put your foot down the back tires have a habbit of commin out of nowhere and bitin the back of your legs lol

    Seriously, though:
    Sane advice there.
    What he's saying is that you(and your riding abilities/common sense) are the key to riding anything safely, and especially a 3-wheeler which does require more skill than a quad.

    Keep it rubber side down. We want you as a member for a long time, and for you to prove your friends wrong.

    It funny because I got the same response when I unloaded my 200X and 350X. It is amazing how the media can make or break an issue.

    Its like a loaded gun, treat it with respect and if it were always loaded and you will never get injured. I have been injured twice riding and both times I beleive the onlookers heard this:


    HEY Y'ALL WATCH THIS!!!!!!

    Rarely are the onlookers around here completely innocent. "Hey, ya'll watch this" is almost always preceded by someone shouting "You can make it.....man just hit it HARDER!".
