Sorry holic, they are different. I can't remember the details off the top of my head (I'm sure they've been detailed here) but the one I do know is the steering necks on the frames are at slightly different angles.

they are way different but interchangable. different rake, differnt tank mounts, different tank rubber straps, different tailight mounts, and i am sure some more junk.

looking at an 86 that is wayyy ragged and wayy overpriced. BUT, I have an 85 frame that I would like to re-paint and x-fer the parts over to as I restore it. I dont know if the guy will come down to a reasonable price though. The poor thing looks beat to hell. We'll see.
