it is painted, however i have used this method before and with alot of prep work and quality paint it will last..........just the paint alone for a pint was over $70,plus the adhesion promoter, and the plastic etching primer,it is not cheap to do,but the results speak for themselves.i have done this on a dirt bike before for a friend who really rides the crap out of his machines and the paint lasted a very long time.plus if it does get damaged it is just a scuff and a quick spray away from new condition

Do you have the name of the products that you used? Did you have your fenders matched via some color system camera or do you have a code for that paint? Thanks.

It's nice to see someone that has figured out that he can paint his gas tank . I painted mine 3 years ago and it still is in good shape.

If it works then please do tell the process/products used. I have an 85 tank that needs a fresh look.

Looks good, hopefully it'll hold up for you. Theres really not all that much of the tank showing so I don't see the paint getting too damaged while riding. Other than your legs rubbing up against it.

my thoughts exacxtly, the paint doesnt have a code on it,it must be propiatary to the supply house that mixed it,sorry...it just says "anti freeze green" and fleet color on it

my tank on the 85 is painted, and looks great to this day. no bubbling, no peeling, nothing. alot of the adhesion process deals with the prep work. the better prep you do the better the results. however i have seen tanks bubble like crazy to the point the paint just fell off. if yah want you can always lin the tank. redcoat, kreem, or try this stuff... http://www.caswellplating.com/aids/epoxygas.htm

keep up the good work the bikes looking good.
