    what's a good piston for my KXT

    looking to replace the piston and rings on my 86 tecate. i know wiseco makes a piston. anyone run one with good results? what are my other options and a place that has good prices on them? thanks

    Unless you find nos, your only current option that i know of is Wiseco, for standard bore. They are a bit heavy compared to oem cast, and expand a bit more. So make sure clearance is taken into consideration if you have a sleeved cylinder cut. I run a Wiseco on a plated cylinder and have had good results as well. 78-86 kx 250 pistons will all cross over fyi.

    so kawi doesn't make the piston anymore? you would think they would.

    That's news to me, but then I've never tried to buy a Kawasaki piston for my '86. Mine came with a used Wiseco(that I'm not re-using when I get my cylinder replated), and a "new" Kawasaki piston kit marked "KX250 '82-'86". The box colors are faded and dingy, but everything inside is new/unused.

    From everything I've been able to gather, this KX piston is the same as the '86 Tecate OEM, so I plan to use it.
