    will a 84-85 200x tank fit a 86-87 200x?

    will a 84-85 200x tank fit a 86-87 200x? before i go out and buy one does anyone know if it will fit? i bet they will be want to be sure before i try it.

    It will fit, bolt up right, no. Youll have to modify the mounts. They dont look the same either, probably look bad on a 86.

    ok what i am trying to do is put some maier super scoops on a 86. so i take it they too will not fit a 86 tank?

    Nope, they won't work on there.

    Just for future reference, 1983-1985 200X's are identical other than the swingarm and will interchange parts with each other.
    1986-1987 are nearly identical and will interchange parts with each other, but nearly nothing will interchange between the 83/85 and the 86/87.

    My 86 project it about 30% built with older 200x parts believe it or not, just because they are cheap to replace and easy to find. Scoops will not work, the 86 has rubber mounting tabs and the bolt holes are closer. I made a pair of scoops out of an old 300ex fender. They dont look good but they do the trick.

    probably too tall and from looking at pics its still different. So you want a different tank just because the shrouds?
