is there a better carb for the 86 tecate or is the stock one pretty good?

I would say that just about any carb will be an upgrade from the stock mikuni... I prefer keihin pwk's.. I have switched all my machines to them so they all use the same jet selection...
is there a bike or something you can get a used one from. i'm thinking maybe i can find something on ebay.
'88 Tecate 4, and 88' newer KDX 200's= 35mm
'88-newer KX 125, 250, 500 = 38-39mm
which one do you have on yours and what would you recommend for me? as far as i know my motor is stock with a aftermarket pipe.
whats your riding style?
i guess i would say the occasional drag race with friends and trail riding and messing around in play areas. i wouldn't say i'm balls to the walls at all times, but i'm not a grandpa on the thing. also forgot to ask if i would need a new carb boot and where i could get one?
I use a 38... I have no complaints
does it bolt right up to the carb boot or do i buy the one off the bike for it? will the jetting for mine be the same then if it came off of a 250 bike?
any carb will require tuning... you should be able to use your stock intake.. the 35mm's may be a little small to get a good seal though.. get a 38..
right on with the carb tuning, i was just looking for a starting point so i don't blow it up right away. i definetly am hoping to get a 38 mm for around $50. i'll have to start off with the kx 250 jetting and go from there. do you know off hand if a kx intake boot will just bolt up and work fine on mine? kawasaki doesn't make the stock boot for mine anymore.
1986 Kawasaki KXT 250 tecate
ported, FMF pipe, DG silencer, boysen stage II reeds, 39mm keihin PWK, T4 thumb throttle and front master
The KX intake boot will be angled off to the left side, where the Tecate boot comes out straight. That means you cannot use the stock airbox setup with the KX boot.
I'm probably going to use a K&N style filter off the back of the carb with an Outerwears on it. Since I care nothing for mud or water riding, I'll be just fine with that setup.
