Check the spring on the latch & make sure BOTH sides catch.

Speaking of 250sx rear fenders. Does anybody make an aftermarket version that has the trunk?

nope - maiers are the only company that makes an after-market rear fender for the SX - and they don't put that nice trunk box in it!

Would it be possible to use a tool box and cover from an OEM fender and cut out the maier one where the tool box and cover go?

Impossible..... The stock trunk sure is nice, but as years go by, they sag and become brittle and then crack.

Your front bracket could be bent, the portion of the frame that they slide into, cracked or worn out. Then you have the rectangular rubbers (I think the SX has them) that need to be good and the round ones in the back too. As well as the latch.

It's no big mystery, either something is worn out or missing.
