i just took it out this weekend and i had it to the top of the seat but not over the gas can and it ran fine.... you just have to keep on the gas to be sure no water gets into the exhaust

I'd build a submarine if I wanted to go under water,..ATC's are for drivin' around the lake.....why risk ruining your 20+ old ride?

My carb lines are still stock. It always ran fine through water. I was having idle problems, but that may have just been sediment settling in the bottom of the bowl and getting sucked into the carb.

More pics! Oh wait, the snorkel isn't on in the second one!

ya, i was going to ask..how to you prevent it from cutting out once water hits the electric? How did you go around this to counter it???

i think people coat everything in dielectric grease, but not too sure. i am siliconing up my cdi plate and putting the grease on every spot that is connected or has a plug its the worst experience going falling threw ice into a 4.5 foot deep hole and having the machine die in the water forcing me to get off and walk threw.

Any water in the oil is bad. It will promote corrosion and take the place of the oil that is trying to lubricate all those moving parts. Drain it all out, refill, ride and change it again. If it's still milky; keep changing it. Run all your ventlines (crankcase) as high as you can.

I haven't added die-electric grease to my harness. Maybe I've been lucky with the factory connections. Any electrical that I've added has always used the heat-to-shrink butt connectors and terminal ends which are all wrapped in a solid layer of electrical tape. The fusible link after the battery nearly corroded through on me though; I replaced it with a regular fuse holder.

Just be sure; if you hydro out the engine, pull the spark plug, kick it over a few times and make sure all the water is out of the cylinder before you try to start it! If you even suspect there is water in the engine, don't try to start it!

my stock bear tracker would easily handle water over the front racks...electrical getting wet isn't nearly the issue you think it would be.

as for the people asking why ride in the water...

I do believe it says All Terrain Cycle.... sometimes when riding, there's water over the terrain, and you have to cross it to continue on your way.

I've seen guys on foreman's cross crawfish ponds down here.... they drive in, submerge the bike, and keep on the gas...the bike floats about a foot under the water...

It's convenient knowing that there is NOTHING that can get in your way.

We use to float our trikes (125M and 110) across a creek crossing in the summer time, the water was over 5 foot deep. We would just pull up to the creek, leave it running put it in first gear, walk in with it, and just float across while giving it gas to propel it foward to get to the other side. Never once did I have an eletrical problem or water in the oil. I would cross creeks that were as deep as the rear fenders--bottom of the seat high, as long as the tires would touch I'd cross it on it! Like GOAT said ATC use it to it's potential. We always "expolred" new areas when we were kids, we found so many really cool things. Really everyone has their own riding style or terrain, some people have to cross water others are nowhere's near it. You have to admit Name Brand has some really beautiful places to ride, I know I'd love to go "explore" in Alaska!

On my sx i ran it generally like yours. But i ditched the airbox and put a few 45's to get it out of the way. Also put a 180 degree bend at the top. It helps from rain, splaches, trash etc etc getting to your carb. Do not move it to the back. first time you do a deep water wheelie you are done. Use dielectrci grease on all electrical connections especially your spark plu boot. Before i moved to the big quads i would have my bars underwater at least 20 times a ride.

Now i ride the big cat. 8" catvos lift, 32 in. silverbacks. Bars are at about 6' tall. So i dont even need a snorkel anymore,
Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

You must get so many looks! Those quads and utv's jacked to the moon look killer! I remember when I put 33's on my first Chevy truck and your running 32's on a quad--SWEET! Got any pics? I checked out custom atv of shreveport, I love those pics.
