    making shock bushings?

    Im experimenting with different shocks on my 200x but most use larger bolts and im not drilling my frame, So I need to make bushings to accept the stock steel piece out of the 200x shock, to fit snug into the other shocks. What exactly could I use to do this? I tried different rubbers but all were too weak and just moved, I also tried the dish washer hose, but it wasnt large enough. Is it possible to get a solid piece of 1'' pvc tubing to drill out?

    I just used electrical tape for my 82 250r wrapped it tight around until i got the desired snug fit. not loose and not spongy worked awsome.

    If you want something to las your gonna need urethane or a similar material and a lathe to make them up. Electrical tape will last long enough for you to bounce around and see if the shock is worth making permanent.

    Your really THAT unhappy with the 86/87 200X shock??

    Maybe you've never had a good one??, I'm 200lbs and it works great for me on my track and everyday riding....

    For now I just used it so I could push it around the shop and move it around once it gets done I will replcae it but it seems to be working good. doubt it is a permanant fix though.

    Well i went to tractor supply and they had the right sized dish washer hose (5/8x1'') and it worked perfectly. I decided to try the 300ex shock and save my 200x shock before it blows out and im out 200 for a rebuild. I only had to drill a 7/16'' hole farther up so the bottom of the shock wouldnt hit, and replace the stock 300 bushings so I wouldnt have to drill the upper mount to accept a 1/2'' bolt.

    not sure how good it rides yet but Ill soon find out.
    When I was putting the shock on I noticed the bottom frame rail was completely rusted though and was cracked near the pegs so I had to weld a new piece of steel in.





    I guess this could help someone who cant find a 200x shock. Well theres my boring story of my shock swap.
