    coil testing on a 85 r

    i have some starting problems,so i checked the fuel flow it seems to be good,now i moved on to spark i am not getting good spark so how do i test the coil to see if it is working correctly?

    With a multimeter set on OHMS there is a value or range for primary and secondary resistance.

    Someone with a manual will have to get them for you, where is your manual bud?? It will give you all the tests for all the electrical and the OEM shop manual is best.

    MOST electrical "no spark" is a bad connection at one of the connectors, bad ground or the handlebar switch.

    MOST meatballs buy a coil, CDI, harness, stater, voltage regulator, new plug and then find a bad connection
