    Arctic Cat 454 won't start

    I haven't been able to get my 97 Arctic Cat Bearcat 454 to start for the past month. I just now got around to messing with it to try to figure out what's wrong. I got to the carb and it's some kind of weird Mikuni. When I push the throttle it doesn't move the slide, just a butterfly valve that is just past the slide. Could this be part of my problem? The motor backfires pretty often when trying to start, so I know it has spark, but it also makes me think maybe the timing's off. Thanks for the help, I need to get this thing running again so I can sell it.

    try changing the spark plug anyway.
