    Anyone run a WSM piston??

Does anyone know if they are cast or forged?

I had a member offer me a new one for the 86/87 200X but I've only heard of them once and didn't know they made a 12:1 piston...

    Thanks for any help!

I put one in my '84 200x (stock size) about a month ago and I have had no problems with it. I'd say go ahead and get it. I think they are cast, but dont take me up for it. Hope I could help.

Steve i would shy away from them. I know quality counts in your book. But I also know so does price. Dealers send alot of these kits out the door due to there price- CHEAP! Fact of the matter is a google search of these pistons should ruin your day haha. Can you go with a PRO-X? Pro-X makes excellent high silicone content cast aluminum alloy pistons. I would never recommend a wiseco though either. Quality wise, Wiseco are fine. User-wise, they are usually not. It takes someone familiar with them to set the motor up, with the appropraite larger clearances, and a user familiar with them to know how long to appropriately warm the engine up before doing any hard riding. Otherwise you get a nice hard seize. I only recommend them to experienced builders/tuners/riders. Of course all in my opinion. Different builders will say different things.

    Good stuff to know Jeff.

I don't have any confidence in my local boring shop, I think they are a bunch of idiots..... And I also didn't think I'd hear good stuff about WSM.

    I'll see what Pro-X offers.

Would you powder coat before boring or after. I'm thinking they'll chip it somehow.....

Doesn't look like they make a 12:1 piston

I'm stuck with WISECO I believe..... What do they call for Jeff, .002?? I may have to send the jug and piston to Ronnie.

Well I currently have three Tri-Z cylinders in fresh powder. One is at Ronnie's place right now. The other will go down when that one comes back and I want to save the other for the future. I dont think they will chip it. Unless they intentionally hit it or improperly handle it. I would send it to Ronnie...His work looks mighty fine to me! He could also port the 4 stroker heads and do valve work and so on....

    You coating yet!?

WSM piston are good quality. I have used them for awhile with zero problems. They are mostly well known in the PWC market as they have been around for decades.

Email SBT (short block technologies) and see what they say about WSM. Or research them on any PWC forum and you will see what users are saying.

Already been there and done that. I also visit pwctoday.com all the time. The problems happen when people try to run them in applications with stroker cranks or heavily modified engines. For a stock replacement they work good and last along time.

In steve's case this won't be a "stocker". For his replacement its no good....

I wish I was.... I have accomplished ALLOT lately but I have to get this done in short time, it may not happen.....

A regular oven isn't big enough for an axle, and thats my goal. I have the elements and 1 piece of duct, I need 1 more and a stat.

Honestly, between my friends broken frames, exhaust studs, bearings to install and about 4 lower ends to rebuild within a month - I am SWAMPED....

I'm so friggin tired today that I need a day off.....

Fortunately, the head is good to go as is. I just need a bore and piston and I may send it to Ronnie, but I need it back within 2 weeks or my a hole dealer will have to do it for me and I'll pray for the best......

I gotta talk to you about your anodizir sometime. BTW, your Z is looking absolutely incredible, very nicew work my friend
