I have a 1984 yamaha 225 dx and I lost the key. Does any one know how I can get a new one? or replacement?

Any decent locksmith will be able to cut you one if you bring in the ignition. The place I use charges $15 for the first key and something like a dollar for extra copies.

    With a Honda,

I have taken the ignition to a dealer and there is a number on the side and they simply use that number to cut another key.
I would think Yamaha dealer dose it the same way (?).

take it apart, rip the locking pins out of the lock cylinder. than any key will turn the ignition.

if its the same as a yamaha blaster, just unplug the thing. works with the blaster ignition switches. have done it on mine. black taped the ends of the two wires and tucked em away. starts every time and no switch whatsoever on my bike. if it doesnt work with the wires unconnnected, simply connect them together and try it that way. alls the igntion switch is is a connection between two wires. turn the key and it either disconnects the connections, or connects them. if you understand what i mean. try it, wouldnt hurt. if you get nothing, then go the route of getting either a key made or new ignition switch.
