How??? Yes the 85/6 frames are the same but the 86's have a larger diameter motor mount bolt, the ones through the motor are the same, and on the 86 all 3 are the same, on the 85's the motor is larger and the 2 in the frame are small. This is only on the top/front mount. Make sense? I have an 86 that i bought an 85 powder coated frame for and it all worked fine...

Hmmm... didn't know that about the motor mounts. That's new to me.
If you are switching to a 86 frame, I suggest that you change the clutch arm over to the 86 setup and run the clutch cable down the left side by the oil cooler, stator and behind the jug. The 86 frame doesn't have the loops on the frame down pipe for the clutch cable.
There is a slight difference on the muffler bracket/grab bar mount on the left side. Also I believe the steering stem bearing race is different. Other than that, I believe everything else lines up.

I never saw this motor mount bolt issue either......
A mount was ALTERED so that the 86 frame would get a wee bit more support at the left downtube but you say a larger bolt was used????
All our government does is distract us while they steal from us, misspend our tax $ and ruin our country
Oh yea i forgot i have an 85 grab bar. You wont need to drill anything but you will need a set of 86 motor mounts. The holes through the motor are the same, but the ones through the frame are 8mm on the 85 and 10mm on the 86. This is the front mount on the down tube, and the top mount that connects to the head. I can get picks if that doesn't make sense to you...

Ok here you go, i went from an 86 to 85 so i bought the 85 set, but i dont see why you couldn't simply drill the 85 holes to the larger diameter. Here you can see the bolt though the motor side is clearly larger than the ones through the 85 frame, first is the down tube, and the second is under the tank. And on the 86 the motor is the same, but the ones in the frame are the larger size so all 3 are the same. Jason up in Elizabethtown? Pa has my 86 frame maybe he can confirm this for me...

ya the one on the one on the down tube i would like to see a pic of that one. and if the ones on the motors are the same and the 86 from is 2mm biger then the 85 one there would be slop in the holes
Ok before i post whore this thing to death, if you look at the frame schematic on bikebandit the 85 has an 8mm X 75 bolt on #36 (goes through the frame) and a 10mm X 80 in the motor #37. The 86 shows a 10mm X 76 for #36 and for some reason the #37 is blank, but its shows all of them are available...

what parts can i use off of a 200x and 250r
Nothing really, the front axles are the same as the liquid R, thumb throttle, bars, misc nuts and bolts, some of the rubber grommets, i think the front wheels/hub. Just a bunch of little stuff the main suspension/forks/triple tree/stem bearings/ motor stuff and rear axles/hubs are all different...
