I like to do things the hard way!

It seems nothing ever goes rite for me when messing with these old wheelers.

A few weeks back I shook the swinger bolt loose.. then when I went to replace it I cracked the gusset on the frame where the bolt mounts to.

So I decided to tear everything down and finally swap out frames.. (I've been putting this task off since before xmas..) and now I'm starting to realize why!

The bottom motor mount bolt was froze solid. even after soaking it with penetrating oil for 4 days the *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited* still wouldn't budge. So I took the cut off wheel to it.

Now the problem is I still have to deal with the bolt. (looking for suggestions!)

So here's where I'm out now. Still lots of work to do.. and I'm still in need of some parts.. and waiting for some to arrive as well.

here's the new frame awating all new bearings from dads.

try grinding the head off the bolt, should come out then with a or a punch. Or use an impact... It will either come loose or twist in half, either way you're good

A guy I used to work with had a 250r engine that had been removed from the frame in the same manner as yours was. He sold it to 1upfront for cheap because of this. We tried to get the bolt out every way that we could think of and had no luck so we took it to my dads shop and put the engine in a milling machine and drilled the bolt out. This engine was a one season engine, They rode it a few times in 81' got scared and never got back on it. So it was well worth the effort to get the bolt out without ruining anything. Aside from the lower engine bolt it was like brand new inside and out. It was still on the original bore and still had hone marks on the cylinder.
Good luck. I hope you don't have as much trouble as we did.
P.S. When you put it back together use anti-seize compound on all of the engine bolts.

Thanks for the tips guys. I've been beating on it with a 5lb and it still aint moving. I'm afraid of bustin up the cases.

We tried heating the bolt. We tried heating the case where the bolt goes through and an air to try to drive it through and the end of bolt just started to mushroom so we drilled it out. The drill bit was around $20.

    exploring other options...

OK worse case senerio here.. Do I even need to use that mount. there's four other mounting points around the motor. One of which is on the front of the motor in the down tube.

I took the nut off a while ago (months acually) and have been periodically spraying it before riding. In hopes the vibration from the motor would shake it loose. no luck tho.

don't know for sure if you would need it or not, if it were me I would use it. Worse comes to worse, any machine shop could get it out. Probably not to expensively either

Yep that'd be the one. I ended up wishing I hadn't sold it. My frame has a nice little twist to it. I should have kept that one.

The 350X engine is already so heavy that it creates enough problems. I would most definitely make sure to use that bolt, look where dickin around has got ya so far!! - lol.....
