I need to know what rear shocks will replace the stocker. If no one knows can I get the stockers dementions?

No for the front forks, Will fors from a newer bike fit? Whats the tube size of the stockers?

I took it to the pit today and styed with the smaller dirt bikes and beginner 400EX riders. I need to handle the rough stuff better to really compete though.

I need more pull to handle the short distance between jumps. What are my gearing options?

I can measure my shock for you but the stock 86/87 shock work very well when rebuilt. About 125$ to rebuild one...

The forks work great if you put 15 wt oil in them and a 1.25" PVC spacer. 85 and under forks fit right in but are .75" shorter.

I think stock is 13/38 I run a 14t front but the stock 38 is the only rear available. Not sure if the 40t 350X sprocket will fit, it's something I have to check for myself. Otherwise you'd have to go to Sprocket Specialists and get whatever you want made.

Adding a larger carb and a supertrapp exhaust helps out quite a bit.

well, works makes a rear shock for the 86 200X, so i think it would fit or could be made to fit an 87. idk if its an upgrade though. http://www.worksperformance.com/html/home.html

I have never delt with forks befor. Im am, well was a quad guy. What do you mean by spacer? Do you have pix of said spacer? If you could give me some dimentions that would be great. Im sure your busy doing prep for TF08.

I would love to drop a tooth in the front, Where can I buy sprockets for it with out having one made? I know where I get stock gearing.

If you support your front end you can remove the 2 fork caps. A piece of PVC from Home Depot can be cut to "preload" the fork springs inside the fork tube. They can be made 1" or longer but be careful NOT to strip the fork cap when you preload that spring with the spacer.

As far as sprockets IDK if there is a 12 front, I would think so..... But 13 stock has a fairly low 1st thru 3rd gear.
Are you looking for acceleration or top speed?

I am looking for pull, Not top end. The PVC spacer sounds great. Cheep and easy, I might make some and try it out. Ill be needing a fork cap and fork seals first though. Ill most likely do all three at once. Is the 1 1/4 PVC ID or OD?

I believe I used 3/4 inch white PVC (I forget if thats sched. 40 or sched. 80.....) and I had to sand it down a tiny bit to get it to clear the fork internal threads.

I did not have a lathe back then.

Someone may know a material that slips right in...

I made mine 1.250" long and I use a long 1/2" extension and a good 6 point to start the threads, using light pressure with my shoulder.

At this point (with the new spacer on top of the spring), it's easy to strip the cap OR those threads. in the upper fork tube.

If they even start to strip, then you have metal in your forks waiting to attack the oil and dust seal......

I'm 210lbs, 5'10" and 20wt Fork Oil (was not easy to find, 15wt was....) worked/works fine for me.
