    2 stroke running in reverse.

    Anyone ever have a problem with their 2 stroke running backwards? Mine will start and go thru all the gears......in reverse. I drove it about 1/4 mile in reverse.....shifting thru the gears as I went. Let me know. This was on a Tecate 250.

    I've seen this happen in person to an '86 quadracer - really wierd, it happened because of a backfire from spraying in way to much ether to get it started.

    Hahaha! You must Have Howdy's flywheel! His did the EXACT samething, the magnets on the flywheel were glued on wrong.

    Check the flywheel key. I have seen outboards do this a couple of times. If it is the key make sure you torque down the flywheel next time.

    If you have another flywheel change it out and see if it runs correctly. I had a 87 Tecate that ran backwards beofre. What I found was the magnets were glued in 1/4 turn off from where they were supost to be ( It had been rebuilt before ).

    yeah try to check your flywheel key like 200xman said.
    i got the same prob as you sunday and bought a new key for 2$ and change mine cause it was broke.

    now i can go foward hehe. exept that my engine is blew now

    My tecate did that too. It was kind of funny i can to a stop then i went to take off and i was trown off the front of the wheeler. I also drove mine home too. I thought I was the only one. haha. But it was definitley the key. mine worde down and shiflted the magneto just enought to make it fire backwards. haha

    Sounds like a typical Kawi ignition problem. I dont care how much power those things put out, they are the biggest pieces of junk.Owned one and will never look back. Try replacing the flywheel with a honda 250r flywheel along with the rest of the bike! Sorry, couldnt resist

    This concept is pretty neat, this is how ski-doo and the newer polaris sleds have a weight less reverse system. Hit the rev button, it stalls the motor for a second and then refires it in reverse rotation so you can back up.

    Is this a new topic????? I remember Howdys doing it on a KAW that briefly crossed his path, then someone else had the same problem. Is this now a third post of a pinger running backwards?

    Maybe this is a good tech tip post????
