street legal tri-z in florida

I bought this tri-z last year and it came with an open original Illinois title that was signed over in 1997.It said motercycle on it so I went to the dmv today and they gave me a tag.They did not even bat an eye.This will be great for the bike events in daytona(20 min away).I will be able to ride the numbered forest roads in ocala now I need 1 mirror and a cheap walmart bike horn.going to look for an extra set of rims to mount some dot tires on.If anybody has an extra front rim around I would like to buy it.I will have this at trikefest.

Very nice 86' . With a little TLC and some new parts she will be looking mighty fine. I would love to cruise that at Bike Week. It would be the CHIT

Hell ya man that's great. I was just talking to my lady the other day how it would be nice to register the Z for the road. I wonder what you would have to do to get one legal with out the MC title? That will be sweet hearing a 2 stroke go down the road. Have fun!!

Thats cool! The 86' Z I bought in January had the same situation, an open Illinois title that was registered as a motorcycle!

well to make it road legal arent you going to need to get dierectional lights, running lights, a working brake light, etc? can't see yah being able to ride legally with out them components.

I have my bike street legal, I only needed working lights front and back, hand signals are permitted in replace of directional indicators. I don't have a brake light either, but turn the lights on and off rapidly as a brake light.

Only other thing is reflective jacket and helmet required. £ wheeler on the road, a real head turner!!

depends on state to state. I've looked into it for louisiana.

for example, it's possible to register it as a custom built motorcycle, but you have to provide receipts for every part purchased. You must have full signal lights, headlights, and dot approved tires.

after it is all done, you bring it to your local state trooper office, and they inspect it. from what I see, if too many parts come from one thing, it looks bad...and you don't get approved. If the state trooper is knowledgeable, you don't get approved, hell if he's in a bad mood, you don't get approved.

When gas prices skyrocket, and I'm forced to live on campus...a certain blacked out 200x, which just so happens to have a lifan enduro bike engine, will be riding down the road.

it's probably more or less strict for every state.

I always wondered if you got say a duel purpose like a xl600 or something. and got it inspected then put on the road. Then build a swing arm re assamble with a trike front fork (ie350x)and all the road stuff like blinkers , brake lights and d.o.t tires could it be road legal?

In florida you dont need turn lights.just need one mirror,cheap bike horn,dot tires and a brake and tail light.I have everything on it but the tires and rear lights now.It is just an equipment violation anyway.It is as legal as some of the one off custom bikes I see around here.I plan on picking my spots carefully,to avoid police intervention,but bottem line is this is tagged as a 3 wheel motercycle.It will be good for ocala,the beach and bike events in daytona ware anything goes.I rode down the road to the swimming hole at trikefest without a problem and it was very cool.
