    Need help pulling Tecate flywheel!!

    Hey Everyone
i have never pulled a flywheel before. I got my RickyStator assembly and I dont have a puller. I went to NortherTool and they have a "3 jaw" puller (It looks like a bolt with 3 "arms" mounted to it that contract as the bolt is turned) They also have a steering wheel/harmonic balancer/gear puller tool set. It is a bunch of different sized bolts and some type of brass part that I wold imagine bolts to the flywheel. I have no idea which of these tools I need or how they work. Can someone give me a quick lesson?

    Thanks!

The puller I use can be used for 2 bolt or 3 bolt. The ricky stator uses 3 bolt. But some thread into where the crank mates with the magneto. In these cases all you need to do is file down 2 sides of bolts with nust and push them in and turn 180 and then pull. Make sure your magneto is mated to your crank or you will go through key ways like I did. Bought 10 in one year. lol

Tmecars, you need the second brass puller you described. A bolt goes through the middle of it and presses against the crank through the flywheel. Bolts go through the three ends and thread into the flywheel attaching it to the brass. The bolt being screwed against the crank is what pulls the flywheel off. ...if that all makes sense.

Do not screw the bolts that thread into the flywheel in too far or the first time the flywheel turns they will destroy the stator coils.

THANKYOU. That is exactly the description that i needed. The toolkit at Northern was only $14 compared with the $30 + shipping that I found online for a "Tecate" flywheel puller!

    Thanks again.

a harmonic balancer puller from any autoparts store is the same thing and only cost 10-20 bucks
The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person who is doing it.
