    YTM 225DX, twist throttle?

At the end of this week I will pick up a 225 dx and just for the heck of it I checked the brochure of this trike on the 3ww main page. On the brochure it is mentionned that the 225 dx came with twist grip throttle for easier operation. I always thought all the Yamaha trike came with a thumb throttle.
    Is it true?

Yamaha had an optional twist throttle kit. I believe all the YTM's cam with a thumb throttle but the twist kit could be bought and instaled at the dealer before delivery or could be bought and added on later. Kits come up on ebay fairly often (most don't seem to want the twister).

First of all, i'm new to the forums, and i'd like to say great site. I've picked up alot of good info already!!

I figure this thread is as good a place as any to post this. I just bought my first trike(got bored with quads ), an '84 225dx, and it came with a twist throttle, which I know was a factory option in that model year. At first I liked the twist, but as i've gotten into more riding, I find it a pain in the ass. It also freezes up like crazy. I want to convert to a thumb. I'm assuming it's a pretty easy and cheap conversion, but i'd like to hear from some people who may have done this conversion, and see if they have any advice.

Heres a pic of my dx. It starts first pull every time(needs a new battery for electric start), pretty cosmetically sound, but could use some refinishing of the plastics and a new seat cover if i decided to be picky. It still looks like how I picked it up. I will be doing some work on it when it gets warmer or I can borrow a heated garage:

If you look at the kit's picture in thefox posts, the kit doesn't include a different throttle cable. Probably to convert it to thumb throttle you will only need to buy the thumb throttle assembly.

Yeah, that would be nice if the twist cable was'nt too long. Save a bit of cash there.

Yeah all of the ones I have owned had the twist throttle on them. I kinda like it and thought it was cool.
