ok guys i have been lookign into a new motor for a roller atc 70 i had picke dup i want a lifan but dont know witchones i should be lookign for i am a bigger guy so i am thinkign somethign with a lil ass behind it what have you guys done out there and what was needed to make it work?

The lifan 110 and 125 is a good choice. You can get it in auto or clutch. Look for the auto with the shame shift pattern as the atc70. Look for the clutch with the 1 down, 3up like a standard bike shift pattern. You can have kick start or electric start. With kick start, you will need to have have wheel spacers to have room to kick start and clearance the rear fender too. You can convert to pull start using a trx70 pullstart side cover and drilling 4 holes into the flywheel to mount the engagement cage for the recoil starter. You can have electric start by addiding a small battery, which most people have been doing by making a mount welded to the skidplate so the battery sits inside the frame. Make sure to get the lifan engine that uses the normal looking coil just like on a regualr bike or trike. Wiring isn't too hard and is posted on several different websites. The big issue seems to be the carb clearance on the frame. You will probably have to buy an adapter so you can turn your carb away from the frame for clearance purposes. Dratv, has alot of great parts and glamis dunes has alot of info and pictures and wiring diagrams for the lifan electric start and kick start engines. If you use the trx70 recoil side cover, it looks just like a factory install and will have the outside chain cover and be able to clear the electronic flywheel and has the opening for the timing mark so you don't have to remove the timing cover. You can use the stock 70 sidecover, but you may have to clearance it for the electronic flywheel as clearances will be really right. There are bigger engines like the 138, 160 or the 177 like edogs all of which should use the cooler for, but the 125 is a big difference from the stock 70. You will want to look into taller handlebars to better clear you knees while riding. Also, you will have to mode the stock footpegs by cutting out the footpegs from the mount, then cutting them in half, welding in a 3 or 4 inch spacer slug, then welding the whole assembly back together so the footpegs will clear the aftermarket clutch side cover which is usually wider than the stock 70. Not that hard to do and there are postings with pictures how to do this also. There are some really trick little 70s running around. Blue27 and kasey both have modded several 70s and can help big time in this area. Have fun. Also there are 2 exhaust pipes that are both stainless steel and are made for the atc70 with the bigger engines. One pipe goes over the engine and one pipe goes under and they bolt up into the stock locations or you can mod a pit bike pipe.

I was hoping to make it to the pensyltucky ride and meet everyone, but even after doing a whole lot of stuff to the 350x, the rear master cylinder was shot and leaking too bad to ride safely. I hope to have that squared away soon. Maybe when I come up I can bring the suspension 70s too. I'll try and help however I can on the 70s, just ask away.

wow man shoudl have said soemthign i have a few plates and an extra 450r master cylinder i built to use modern 450r master cylinders on the 350x. works well i have 2 of the 3 350x;s are runnign them includign the 450r. and i have a nice 85 that i had done the cdi upgrade to and i got anothe roen but it doesnt have any spark checked the points and flywheel and allthat stuff and still cant get spark. and then i have a 3rd 70 that needs a motor carb electrical exhaust and front tire rim and hub to be a runner. so i will ahve a fun little winter ride and hope to have a mini class for the ice this winter.

Wow, I didn't know that you've done anything like that with the master cylinders. Do you have any pics? I just bought a used 350x m/cyl just to get a decent metal plunger and I need to get a rebuild kit, hope they are still available. I wouldn't mind doing the 400ex carb too and that should really be everything back up and ship shape since I pretty much replaces everything else on the back of the trike but the swinger and 3 grommets or so. The reservoir and the brake line and brake pads were in such sad shape That I didn't notice the m/cyl was leaking till I replaced all that stuff and I still didn't have rear brakes and the m/cyl was dripping. I had been accumulating most the parts for over a year and just got motivated to get the stuff done for the ride. Heck, I even bought a new helmet and goggles! Oh well, maybe you'll have another ride in the fall. I might have to load up the trailer and bring several toys up and air them out. Might even have my RD350 powered trike up and running, but I doubt it.

I put the Loncin 110 in my girls 70. Everything fit pretty good. I am planning on doing the trx70 pull start mod. The only complaint i have is the front fender will hit the head. I am looking at diffrent ways to fix this issue. i plan on giving this to my daughter on her birthday so i need to hurry up and finish it. Also, i used hooker exhaust for an atc 70. I had to slot the mounting holes a little but it fits pretty nice.

Electric Start , Romote Kill , All the electronics for headlight/tail light, No shifting. Top speed 38 MPH (I weigh 215 LBS)
