ok i am redoing my engine here. i ran across something that makes really o sense to me.
the clymer manual says to install an o ring in between the kick start shaft end and the idler gear. i would ike to know what is this supposed to do. nothing holds it in place at all. just wondering. pics included here

i also have this question.
i bought a seal kit off ebay. it is a 7 piece kit. am i stupid or miss a seal. i only needed six. it has 2 of the same seals for behind the spocket
2 for the crank.
1 for the sprocket
1 for the shifter
1 for the kickstarter
1 for the clutch actuator

Ok man I took apart that engine to see if I could find an o-ring behind or in front of that kickstart gear and found nothing LOL there is no o-ring but theres a thrust washer. Heres the pic's.
