83 honda 110 atc brake/oil/high,low questions...

i just picked up a 83 honda 110 atc and ive been checkin it over...is there suppose to be a hand brake for rear brakes on it cause mine has a cable running from the foot brake mechanism to the forks but no lever what so ever..and also what oil does it use? and i checked over the high/low and seen that the lever was really hard to move like u need a .. so i took the cover off and looked at the gears and everything seemed fine so i dont know whats wrong with the lever.. also does anyone know where u can find a better muffler that doesnt stick right out through the rear axle? like a aftermarket? if someone can help me out with the ?s i have it would be greatly appreciated my email is hostetler_truck@windstream.net thanks

Yes, there should be a lever that operates a cable from the handlebars to the foot brake.
Sometimes, to engage the hi/lo you need to rock the trike back and forth while trying to move the lever. Sometimes the levers are just stubborn after being left in hi or low for awhile.
The oil should be 10w-40

Also, you have a couple options for an exhaust. If you are on a tight budget and don't mind a loud muffler, go for a cobra. although they don't hold up well. If you want a mediium loud pipe with some performance benefits you want a DG exhaust. If you want a quiet exhaust like a stocker, then you want a jardine exhaust. You want to check with your local bike dealer, they should have a catalog that has some atc/110 exhaust selection.

ahh *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited*.. i just tried to take off the muffler and one of the nuts broke off halfway.. what can u do to get the rest out? plz somone help me! ughhhh

you'll have to use stud extractor to get it out. here's what you do. get some liquid penetrant from the local auto store and also see if they have a 6mm socket style stud extractor. don't use the big nasty clunker thing. it won't do anything but damage it worse and not work. something like this will work perfectly!

you can find cheaper ones too but this one looks like a darned good one. so if ya got the $ get it. if not get one for like $20 cheaper on there, but less quality.

don;t go trying to jack with it any more or you'll be screwed. also if there is no peice of the stud sticking up as in it' sflush with the head, then you'll havbe to drill a hole int he stud using a titanium bit and use a extractor tool, but keep in mind, you must keep it perfectly straight when attempting to remove it or you'll do what everyone usually does on the smaller stuff and brake the carbide tool if in the bolt.

another option is to remove the head after removing the other stud and have a machien shop extract the busted stud(s) and install new ones.
