    atc200s carb bowl gasket question...

I got a rebuild kit for my atc200s and the gasket between the top of the carb and the bowl was just round not pre-bent, and it was a little to big also. Could I just cut the gasket and butt it up and just put a lil silicon on it to hold it in?

I can't find that gasket anywhere by itself, and I refuse to buy a full gasket kit for 20 some odd dollars.

    Thanks,

    Justin

Those 200s bowl gaskets can be a ROYAL PAIN~! I know - I was in your same situation. I simply made a permatex seal - and let it set up for about 6 or 8 hours before I put gas in it - no problems afterwards. The only thing that sux is the next time you tear apart the carb - you gotta scrape off the old - and redo it again.

Not sure how "too big" your gasket is but if it's close...
I've had success in the past using a bit of grease to keep the gaskets from popping up out of the groove because they were a tad too big or stretched out a bit.

Naw, this one is about half an inch too long. Also, How do you adjust the float to where it will shut off the valve sooner I guess. My float pin is bent a little bit and I think is jamming everynow and then causing the bowl to leak (i'm sure its not the drain screw).

    Thanks,

I would not suggest "any old silicon gasket maker" - it must be "gasoline proof"

Yes make sure it us gasoline safe (many are not!).

It is difficult to fit a new 0-ring in the odd shaped bowl gasket surface, what brand carb kit do you have? I have used a few of those kits in the 200 series trikes and haven’t had a problem, granted that gasket I only replace if it is leaking. I use a very very small dab of super glue around the bole to hold the o-ring in place as I work it around and install the bowl.

I thought the same thing when I got my carb kit. It took me about ten minutes to get it right. I put a small amount of greast in the channel where the oring goes in order to keep it there as I worked it around the corners. You must take your time and make sure you dont stretch it out. Trust me, I was so mad when I opened up the package and saw a round oring, however it is the correct one and WILL work if you just take it slow.
