    Adjusting idle...

As alot of you know I have an ATC200S and i bought an XR200 carb which wasnt complete but i threw in some parts I had lying around and completed it. But now i need to tune the idle. How far would you do up the idle screw and the air/fuel mixture screw?

Help would be appreciated as at the moment the bike dies if i dont rev it without choke.

set the mixture screw at 1.5 turns out and adjust the idle screw as needed
The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person who is doing it.

i set my idle so the bike just barely will die, dont want it too high...

Question - What are the advantages of using an XR 200 carb vs. the stock one.?

It depends on what year XR the carb came from.

Thanks for the help.I have no idea about the year Ive heard XR carbs can make the bike go faster. the needle and seat off my atc carb fit it. It came with 2 incomplete carbs one required a bigger needle and seat though and wouldnt fit the engine bolts. the one im using now had none of the screws that are inside the float bowl (i think theyre jets.) so i took them out of the bigger carb. The big one went in ok but the small one wouldnt screw in properly so i wrapped some wire around the outside of it and now it sits good i took it out earlier and it came out while i was riding and died then when i put it back on and put some more wire around it...It wouldnt start (the wire was found in the float bowl) but it starts with the old carb (which has a high rev miss) any ideas why its not starting now? Its came close to starting afew times

and i want my carb so it will idle like a car and only die if i tell it to.

Sorry but shipping from Florida could end up costing more then the carb if you werent so far away I would look into it though...

the weird thing is that the jet that wouldnt screw in properly isnt screwing into the original carb properly either... It took ages to unscrew it of the original carb too.
